Washington Commanders legendary defensive end Charles Mann was one of the best pass rushers of the 1980s in the league. A three-time Super Bowl winner with over 82 sacks in his 12-year career, Mann knows how important football is to the D.C. area.

And he continues to be thrilled with how the Commanders have rebuilt their roster and front office in just two short years.

While credit can go all around from Dan Quinn’s staff, to Jayden Daniels, to owner Josh Harris, Mann believes the crux of the improvement from Washington has come from general manager Adam Peters.

Peters took over a team with just four wins in 2023 with very little talent across the roster, and got aggressive to build one of the more dangerous teams in the league moving forward.

And that’s why Mann, spoke with NBC Sports reporter and Washington D.C. radio personality JP Finlay on how good the Commanders curently have it.

“(General manager) Adam Peters is very savvy,” Mann told Finlay. “Don’t think it’s over just because somebody wasn’t drafted…There will be veterans released, there could be trades, Peters isn’t done…And don’t overlook what’s already in the building.”

Peters is not done. Washington knows that well. The hardest thing to do in the NFL is to build sustained success after a meteoric rise.

The Commanders have the roster to do it. They have the coaching staff to put those pieces together. With Peters leading the front office, though, it’s clear that Washington will be in good hands so long as he continues running the show.
