With the 2025 NFL draft in the books and summer approaching, teams will soon be reporting to training camp. The rosters teams currently have are mostly going to be the ones we’ll see when the regular season opens in September.

For Philadelphia Eagles fans, there might be a reason to feel slightly disrespected by the latest ESPN projections.

Despite a dominant Super Bowl LIX run and bringing home the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy, the Eagles are ranked just fourth in ESPN’s 2025 NFL season projections.

But wait … the Super Bowl favorites are also the fourth-rated team.

Weird.

The betting model has Philadelphia tied with the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs for the highest projected win total at 11.5—but still slots the Eagles behind all three in its overall rankings.

Philadelphia’s 2024 playoff run was nothing short of historic. The team erupted for 55 points in the NFC Championship Game—more than any team in a conference title game since the round was created in 1970—and capped the run with a convincing 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Saquon Barkley led a balanced offensive attack, while the defense rebounded from a shaky regular season to shut down elite competition.

According to ESPN’s model, here are the projected top 10 teams heading into 2025:

The ESPN model leans on a combination of player data, expected win totals, and historical trends.

While the Eagles don’t top the list, they’re still projected for another elite regular season. Their 11.5-win projection matches the highest mark in the league and reflects continued confidence in Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, and Howie Roseman’s deep roster construction.

Philadelphia has won 11 or more games in three straight seasons—its longest such streak since the early 2000s—and is returning the majority of its championship core. That includes key additions and developmental players from a loaded 2025 draft class, such as linebacker Jihaad Campbell and safety Andrew Mukuba.

But again …

Interestingly, ESPN’s in-house sportsbook paints a different picture. According to ESPN BET, the Eagles are currently co-favorites with the Chiefs at +600 odds to win Super Bowl LX, set for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. That betting confidence highlights a clear gap between regular-season modeling and playoff potential.

As we often note when it comes to computer-related outputs: in info spit out is only as good as the info inputted …

By humans, with opinions.

While being ranked fourth might sting for fans expecting top billing, the Eagles enter the 2025 season exactly where they want to be—defending champions with the highest expectations.

Truly, as long as they’re holding the Lombardi Trophy, they’re the ones everyone else is chasing.

And most any other angle is … weird.
