The Minnesota Vikings just finished the first padded practice during training camp on Monday afternoon, and they did so without cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. He missed practice with an injury, and head coach Kevin O’Connell provided an update on him during his Tuesday media availability.

“Isaiah Rogers, he just had a little soreness,” said O’Connell about him missing practice. “He’ll, you’ll see him work his way back in here as we go throughout this, these next couple days. You’ll see him out there a little bit today.”

This isn’t ideal for the Vikings to have to deal with, but his return to practice coming so soon makes it less of a concern. Rodgers has been playing really well across the board, and he’s got the confidence to back it up.

“I put 15 in my notes just in case,” said Rodgers about how many interceptions he plans to get in 2025. “If I fail and go short of it, I still probably get 10.”

Without Rodgers participating in practice on Monday, Jeff Okudah was in Rodgers’ spot, but it’s not a whole lot different from what was going on prior, as Okudah came in during nickel situations. Having Rodgers in after missing such a short time is going to be good for the defense long-term. Brian Flores has some complexities in the coverages that he calls, which will require practice time to get ironed out.

The Vikings entered practice on Tuesday in just shells, which will allow Rodgers a day of practice to acclimate before the pads go back on, just in case there are any repercussions.
