There are many Cleveland Browns fans who feel as if rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders isn’t being given a fair chance to win the starting job in Cleveland this offseason. However, Cleveland-area radio host Ken Carman is not one of them.
“They are doing everything they can to provide the fairest shot possible for him,” Carman said on his 92.3 The Fan show on Thursday. “I will take it to my grave, whether it’s in the next minute, the next 30 minutes, or the next 30 years, I will take it to my grave and say it right to St. Peter’s face: They are doing nothing to try to break a quarterback.
“They’re doing nothing to try to break Shedeur Sanders. Especially Shedeur Sanders. For anybody out there who is not a real brown fans who might be listening to this, I’m telling you right now, shaking as hard as I can, they are not doing anything to try to sabotage, or try to break Shedeur Sanders or to not be fair to Shedeur Sanders.”
Fans reacted to Carman’s take on social media.
“Ken, they want to prove they were right picking Dillion over shedeur. Why do you think DG is getting reps so much reps even with the first team, when he struggled. If this was a fair competition, DG and SS would be getting equal reps,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“No, we’re not wrong to be ‘dismissive’ of Gabriel. The Browns drafted him and did him a disservice by putting him in this position in the first place. We need to start dealing with facts. He’s too small. Just look at the video coming out of camp. It’s reality, not disrespect,” one fan added.
“Ken how is it fair tho if he isn’t getting reps with 1s ? I think if he does and looks really good they can’t say well he isn’t ready,” another person wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can overcome the odds and secure the starting job.
