Nick Bosa is joining an initiative led by President Donald Trump to help inspire the American youth.

The 49ers star defensive end is one of many pro sports athletes named to the revitalized President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, alongside well-known names such as Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and many others.

On Thursday, President Trump signed an Executive Order reviving the Presidential Fitness Test and the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, which aims to end the childhood chronic disease epidemic and foster the next generation of healthy, active citizens, according to a statement on The White House’s website.

The goal of the Presidential Fitness Test is for children to strive to be their best — physically, mentally and civically, per The White House’s website.

The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition will create school-based programs to reward excellence in physical education and support the development of a Presidential Fitness Award — working in partnership with athletes, coaches, teams and schools to champion access to fitness and healthy living for all Americans.

The Council also will play a role in restoring tradition to college athletics, including reforming the transfer portal and keeping men out of women’s sports, per The White House’s website.

Bosa and President Trump’s relationship dates back years, as the president congratulated Bosa after the former Ohio State University standout was selected No. 2 overall by San Francisco in the 2019 NFL Draft. Bosa also infamously flaunted a “Make America Great Again” hat during a TV broadcast after a game.

The 49ers star raised a lot of controversy after the bold move last season, but simply told reporters, “I think it’s an important time.”

Other members of the Council include: Executive Director Catherine Granito, Chair Bryson DeChambeau, Gary Bettman, Harrison Butker, Cody Campbell, Nelly Korda, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Mariano Rivera, Tony Romo, Annika Sörenstam, Lawrence Taylor and Matthew Tkachuk.
