One of the San Francisco 49ers handful of roster moves before their Thursday practice was placing journeyman offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez on waivers.

ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi reported the news.

Gutierrez didn’t clear waivers and was claimed by the Cleveland Browns. It’s his second stint with the club. He spent about a month on their practice squad during the 2022 season.

The 49ers added Gutierrez to their practice squad from the Indianapolis Colts practice squad midway through the 2024 season. He wound up landing on the active roster for three weeks, appearing in one game before his release in late December. He returned to the 49ers’ practice squad and was with the club through OTAs and the first portion of camp before his release.

That marked his second stint in San Francisco. He was with the 49ers’ practice squad in part of the 2023 season, then he was with them for the 2024 preseason and was let go at final roster cuts.

Gutierrez entered the NFL in 2022 as an undrafted rookie with the Denver Broncos. He’s also been with the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. His stint with the Raiders included his only other NFL regular season appearance.
