Penix connected on a deep shot to London during Tuesday’s open practice.
The Atlanta Falcons have officially kicked off their second week of training camp, holding their first fully padded practice on Tuesday morning. This comes following Sunday’s chippy practice in which multiple fights broke out. Head coach Raheem Morris said he liked the team’s intensity but didn’t want to waste more time fighting.
“Really good physicality, but you’d like to avoid the little bit of skirmish that happened because you don’t want to waste time,” explained Morris. “The time is precious for these guys. It made us cancel our developmental period and those are things that, as a coach, that just drives you nuts.”
Michael Penix Jr. continues to impress fans with his arm strength as he prepares for his first full season as the team’s starting quarterback. Penix launched a deep ball to wide receiver Drake London at Tuesday’s practice for a nice completion. Watch below, as shared by the team’s social media account.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris gave an update on injured wide receiver Darnell Mooney before Tuesday’s practice, saying he would be out for a few weeks. Morris was asked whether or not Mooney would be ready for Week 1 and didn’t have a clear answer.
“You know, we’re going with a few weeks right now,” answered Morris. “And we’ll play it out after we get to that point. When we get to that point, we’ll figure out where we’re at and hopefully everything will be looking good for us to be ready to continue into our season and get him back.”
