Each of our NFL Wire editors handed out grades for each of our respective teams’ 2025 draft classes. So what grade did I give the Indianapolis Colts, and why?
I went with a B+ for the Colts. Overall, I thought this was a very sound draft class that GM Chris Ballard put together.

When value meets need, as was the case with Tyler Warren, that’s what every team is hoping to find in the NFL draft. Warren was considered by many to be the top tight end in this year’s class and can provide that needed pass-catching presence at the position for the Colts.
However, his impact with his versatility and run-blocking abilities will go well beyond just the passing game. That do-it-all presence in the offense can add some unpredictability to that unit as well.
I also really like the addition of JT Tuimoloau, who brings three-down capabilities to the Colts’ defensive end position. He, along with DJ Giddens and Tim Smith, should instantly carve out roles at their position groups.
On top of all that, the addition of Jalen Travis at offensive tackle now gives the Colts added flexibility to move Matt Goncalves to right guard. Without Travis in the mix, the Colts would be relying heavily on Blake Freeland to be their swing tackle off the bench.

Now, with all that said, not addressing the guard position specifically felt like a missed opportunity. The plan seems to be moving Goncalves to right guard, but just about every college snap he had was at tackle, and he was a tackle in Year 1 with the Colts. This is a position change for him, and assuming that it will be seamless comes with some risk.
Goncalves certainly has the ability to provide that needed stability at right guard, but I would have preferred some competition for that starting job. If the offensive line play isn’t good enough this season, I’m not sure it matters who the quarterback is.
Overall, Warren and potentially Tuimoloau can be high-impact players, while the floor was raised at several other position groups. But the question marks I have along the offensive line still are what prevented me from bumping the Colts into that A-range.
