Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter showed off some of his magic during the ninth training camp practice. The two-way player participated as a member of Jacksonville’s offense and put on a show during 1-on-1 drills.

He lined up against cornerback Jourdan Lewis in the red zone, a matchup that he’s lost more than he’s won since joining the Jaguars.

But on Sunday, Hunter gave fans in attendance a show. He came off the line of scrimmage and shuffled his feet before releasing inside. Lewis, anticipating the route going to the corner, remained outside as Hunter advanced past him.

Hunter then worked his way back outside, getting behind the veteran cornerback before rising up to snag a Trevor Lawrence pass out of the air.

It’s one of several highlights Hunter has provided as training camp progresses and a reminder of how special of a player Hunter is.

“How quick he is,” cornerback Tyson Campbell said of what he’s learned about Hunter on offense. “How shifty he is and he gets to his spot. Trevor is able to put it anywhere and he’s athletic enough to reach out and go get it.”

Hunter and Campbell haven’t squared off yet in 1-on-1 drills. It’d be a clashing of styles with Hunter’s finesse meeting Campbell’s physicality.

Even on the defensive side of the ball, Hunter has a bit of finesse to his game. He uses his athletic ability to make plays on the ball rather than relying on his outright strength to bully receivers.

Campbell has noticed Hunter’s capacity to be dangerous on defense because of his offensive skills.

“That’s what makes him so unique,” Campbell said. “He brings those ball skills from the offensive side and use them the same way on the defensive side.”

As Hunter continues to come along in camp, continue to expect teammates and coaches to be impressed with his talent.
