The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing veteran defensive lineman Austin Johnson, according to Ian Rapoport.
Johnson is a former second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft by Tennessee. He’s an experienced player, having appeared in 131 career games, which includes 56 starts.

After four seasons with the Titans, Johnson played two years with the Giants, and then two years with the Chargers.
Most recently, he spent the 2024 season in Buffalo, where he was coached by current Jaguars‘ defensive line coach Matt Edwards, who was the assistant defensive line coach with the Bills.
Johnson is an interior defender but has experience lining up across multiple gaps in his career, which will be an important element in Anthony Campanile’s defensive scheme.
Johnson played 353 total snaps last season, recording eight pressures, one sack, and 26 total tackles, according to PFF.

This addition bolsters the depth of this unit while Arik Armstead works through a back injury and Maason Smith is on the PUP list.
