Breece Hall.
Braelon Allen.
Isaiah Davis.
The New York Jets plan to feature all three of their under-25 running backs in 2025. But how often will they call upon Davis, the perceived third wheel?
It was on a small sample size, but Davis was the Jets’ most efficient runner in his 2024 rookie season. The fifth-round pick carried the ball 30 times for 174 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
Davis pulled it off despite his longest run going for only 20 yards. It’s a testament to his consistency; he picked up at least four yards on 60% of his carries, a very high percentage.
Each player in the Jets’ running back trio brings something different to the table. Hall is known for his breakaway speed. Allen is a 235-pound battering ram who converted in short-yardage better than any other NFL running back last year.
Davis isn’t a master of any particular skill, but he offers a little bit of everything. No pushover in his own right at 220 pounds, Davis combines his size with a downhill mentality to consistently add extra yards at the end of his runs. He also displays good vision and soft hands in the passing game.
Where should Davis slot into the Jets’ running back rotation? Is he worthy of being more than a distant RB3 behind Hall and Davis?
Only the film can answer those questions.
