GREEN BAY (WLUK) — A women’s flag football team from Morocco is touching down in Titletown.
The Green Bay Packers are hosting the North African team for a week of connection and cultural exchange. Their activities will include flag football scrimmages and camps, as well as attending the Packers’ preseason game Saturday at Lambeau Field.
Fouzia Madhouni organized the Moroccan team. She was first connected to the Packers in 2022 through her participation in the Global Sports Mentoring Program, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and espnW.
Madhouni coaches women’s flag football in Morocco and is also the founder of “We Can Morocco.” Officials describe this organization as one that “empowers girls and women to realize their potential through leadership courses and American football sessions while also engaging with men to discuss the role they play in advancing gender equality.”
When Madhouni came to Green Bay three years ago, she connected with various members of the Packers and they’ve kept in touch ever since. Madhouni’s goal was to someday bring members of her team to Green Bay to experience the city firsthand.
While the Moroccans are in Titletown, they will participate in the following activities:
Thursday: Flag football scrimmage against Green Bay East High School at Titletown Football FieldFriday: Participating in the Packers-hosted, free girls flag football camps at Titletown Football FieldSaturday: Attending a pregame tailgate followed by the Packers’ preseason game against the New York Jets
