The Minnesota Vikings invested heavily in their offensive line this offseason, adding new starters to each of their interior three positions. They also signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Justin Skule to potentially start in place of Christian Darrisaw, who tore his ACL late last October.
But Darrisaw has been making rapid progress in his recovery. He was cleared for practice when veterans reported to training camp on July 22, although he was going to be limited to individual drills.

He passed another milestone on Wednesday, participating in full-padded 11-on-11 drills. It means that it is time to monitor whether Darrisaw will be ready for Week 1’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.
The September 8 matchup is just over five weeks away. The Vikings have had relatively good injury luck so far this offseason. If Darrisaw can get himself ready for Week 1, it will be the best news possible for J.J. McCarthy, who will be making his first career NFL start that night.
