Former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Josiah Deguara has landed with a new team in the NFC.
Former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Josiah Deguara has landed with a new team. The Arizona Cardinals announced that they signed the free agent on Monday.
The 2024 season was Deguara’s only with the Jaguars after he signed as a free agent with Jacksonville last offseason. Prior to that, he had spent his first four NFL seasons in Green Bay as a former third-round pick by the Packers.
Deguara saw just 86 snaps on offense with the Jaguars in 2024 and had three receptions on three targets for 14 yards. His primary role with the offense was as a blocker.
Deguara’s greatest contributions came on special teams, where he played 243 total snaps, according to PFF, and did so across four of the six different phases.
As an unrestricted free agent this offseason, under new GM James Gladstone and with head coach Liam Coen, the Jaguars went in a different direction at tight end. Jacksonville signed Johnny Mundt and Hunter Long in free agency, both of whom have experience in similar systems to Coen’s, and the Jaguars are very bullish on Brenton Strange.
