The Arizona Cardinals have their preseason opener Saturday evening. They face the Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium, kicking off at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time). Head coach Jonathan Gannon said that the Cardinals’ starters would play but would not indicate how long.

The Chiefs will also play their starters. Each unit will get about a quarter of work.

If the Cardinals decide to go that route, that would mean fans would get about a full quarter of starters vs. starters, which would be kind of nice.

After all, even though there is no game planning, it will give you the best possible image as to the competitiveness of the team once the regular season comes around.

So Cardinals fans should tune in to the game for at least the first quarter. After that, it is a tossup because the outcome of the game will be decided by backups and players who won’t make NFL rosters. It’s sometimes fun, but it doesn’t help you know anything about the team.
