Jaire Alexander gives Waverly youth backpacks filled with school supplies ahead of academic year
GIVEAWAY IN NORTH BALTIMORE. YOU KNOW, IT’S HARD TO THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO END THE WEEK. RAVENS. YOU GOT SOME BACK TO SCHOOL STUFF. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THOUGH, YOU HAVE THE COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER FOR THIS EVENT. HOSTED BY CORNERBACK JAIRE ALEXANDER. HIS FOUNDATION. YOU GOT THE KIDDOS OUT HERE. THEY’RE PLAYING SOME FOOTBALLS AND THEIR LITTLE RAVENS JERSEY. THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF ACTIVITIES MUSIC HERE AT THE WEINBERG. WHY? THIS IS WHERE JAIRE ALEXANDER CAME EARLIER TODAY HANDING OUT BACKPACKS TO THE LOCAL YOUTH FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES. AS WE APPROACH THE SCHOOL SEASON, I GOT THE CHANCE TO TALK WITH HIM A LITTLE BIT, ASK HIM WHY HE FELT HE TO COME OUT, THE NEED TO COME OUT TO THE COMMUNITY. THIS IS WHAT HE HAD TO SAY. JUST A PART OF GIVING BACK AND PAYING IT FORWARD. I CAN REMEMBER AS FAR AS I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD, COMING TO A STEVE SMITH FOOTBALL CAMP, AND HE WAS GIVING OUT BACKPACKS AND I WOULD WEAR THAT BACKPACK PROUDLY TO SCHOOL. SO WHY NOT BE A BLESSING FOR THESE KIDS? YEAH. AND, YOU KNOW, YOU’RE KIND OF YOU TRADED IN YOUR WISCONSIN CHEESE FOR THE BALTIMORE, MARYLAND CRAB, I SHOULD SAY. WHAT’S IT BEEN LIKE? I GUESS JUST KIND OF BEING HERE AND KIND OF DOING THINGS LIKE THIS, HAVING YOUR FOUNDATION GIVE BACK. I MEAN, IT’S SO GOOD TO JUST TO FEEL THE LOVE AND THE JOY FROM THE KIDS IN THE COMMUNITY HERE. I MEAN, SINCE I GOT HERE, I ALWAYS WANTED TO MAKE AN IMPACT. SO, I MEAN, THESE GUYS ARE JUST SHOWING ME SO MUCH LOVE AND IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. AND I DID ASK JAIRE ALEXANDER ABOUT ANY POSSIBLE FUTURE EVENTS. HE TELLS ME HE DIDN’T WANT TO TEASE ANYTHING. FOR NOW HE’S JUST LOOKING TO PUT SOME GOOD VIBES OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY, WHICH I THINK HE ACCOMPLISHED TODAY. FOR NOW, I’M AT THE Y IN

I was 7 years old, coming to a Steve Smith football camp, and he was giving out backpacks, and I would wear that backpack proudly to school. So, why not be a blessing for these kids?” Alexander told 11 News. The newly formed foundation, created by the Ravens’ cornerback, distributed free backpacks filled with school supplies to youth.
