NFL fans aren’t waiting until Week 1 to start speculating about an AFC East coach’s future.

Back in 2022, the Miami Dolphins hired Mike McDaniel as their head coach. Prior to taking his talents to South Beach, he had an impressive run as an assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

During his first two seasons as a head coach, McDaniel led the Dolphins to a 20-14 record and back-to-back playoff appearances. His offense thrived when Tua Tagovailoa was healthy and under center. Unfortunately for Miami, the 2024 season fell off the rails. Although their record (8-9) wasn’t abysmal, there was clearly some tension in the locker room.

Apparently, that tension has carried over to the summer. There have been reports about Tyreek Hill needing to win his teammates’ trust back. While on “The Rich Eisen Show” this week, McDaniel commented on Hill’s rocky relationship with Tagovailoa.

“These are people that are working on the relationship,” McDaniel said. “I think the power in that is both of the players, like most relationships, you learn and you grow and when you invest you go through whatever, but the relationship becomes more real.”

Even though McDaniel is trying to get everyone back on the same page, fans are convinced his days in Miami are numbered.

“Mike McDaniel first coach fired +500 just looks like a better bet every single day,” one fan wrote on X.

“The Mike McDaniel experiment is coming to an end this season,” a second fan declared.

“It’s over, he’s on my first coach fired list,” a third fan said.

“Mike McDaniel is probably about to get fired,” a social media user wrote.

“Only a matter of time until they break that team up and rebuild,” another fan said.

At 42 years old, McDaniel would probably get a second chance even if he’s fired by the Dolphins.

The Dolphins will begin their 2025 season against the Indianapolis Colts. If they want to silence all the rumors surrounding McDaniel, they’ll have to jump out to a hot start.
