While the Cleveland Browns walked away with a 30-10 win Friday night, the early moments of the preseason opener gave Panthers fans plenty to feel good about, starting with the poised performance of second-year quarterback Bryce Young.Playing just two drives, Young orchestrated a 9-play, 73-yard scoring possession capped by a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Coker. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick went 4-of-6 for 58 yards and a touchdown, looking calm and in command of the offense in his limited outing.Veteran Andy Dalton followed Young, completing 13 of 19 passes for 101 yards, while Jack Plummer added 79 passing yards in relief.In the receiving game, Tetairoa McMillan led all Panthers with 43 yards, including a 30-yard strike from Plummer in the second half.While the Browns controlled the second half with three straight scores, much of the Panthers’ focus remained on evaluation, particularly depth and special teams roles.One area of emphasis moving forward: cleaning up the defensive execution after Carolina surrendered 308 total yards, including 183 through the air from Browns quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Tyler Huntley.
