According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons are signing veteran safety Ronnie Harrison. The former Indianapolis Colts defensive back was one of four free agents to work out for the team on Tuesday.

Harrison has appeared in 84 games (48 starts) since being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft. The 28-year-old has recorded seven career interceptions, 25 passes defended and two pick-sixes over seven NFL seasons.

The Falcons have a talented safety group, but it never hurts to add more depth at one of the NFL’s most violent positions.

The Falcons played their preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Friday evening. Despite a promising performance by Atlanta’s defense, the game was called off early due to an injury to Lions safety Morice Norris.

Detroit held a 17-10 lead over Atlanta with over 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter, but both coaches agreed that ending the game was the right thing to do.

Check out the Falcons’ updated 90-man roster and depth chart as they prepare for their next preseason matchup.
