The Eagles held their only public practice of training camp in front of around 50,000 fans at the Linc.

It was a great night until Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson went down late in practice with an apparent right leg injury.

The practice lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes and included a lot of 11-on-11 drills in front of the home crowd.

Here are some observations from the evening:

1. As always, we start with some housekeeping:

• The injury report:

Did not practice: Elijah Cooks (shoulder), Kenyon Green (shoulder), Charley Hughlett (neck), Montrell Johnson (hamstring), Byron Young (groin)

Limited: Zack Baun (back), A.J. Brown (hamstring)

More on Dickerson’s injury.

• Brown missed four straight practices with that hamstring injury but returned Sunday night as a limited participant. He was not involved in team drills.

• After leaving Saturday’s practice early, Jalyx Hunt wasn’t on the injury report and was a full participant at the stadium..

• A bit worried about Dave Spadaro’s vocal cords after his “DEFENSE!” chants on the microphone in front of the crowd at the open practice. We’ll check in with him on Tuesday.

2. Depth chart updates:

• The most notable update on the depth chart came late in practice when Jakorian Bennett got his first first-team reps with the Eagles’ defense. This is just Bennett’s second practice with the Eagles since getting traded from the Raiders, so he has moved up the depth chart quickly. Bennett got reps at right cornerback opposite Quinton Mitchell and is now clearly in the competition for a starting job.

• The day began with Adoree’ Jackson at the starting corner spot opposite Mitchell, while Kelee Ringo ran with the twos. Jackson has been out there first for 7 of 12 practices.

• Jeremiah Trotter and Jihaad Campbell were the first-team linebackers. Zack Baun was still limited on Sunday and didn’t participate in team drills.

• Cooper DeJean continues to get reps in the base package at safety, while Sydney Brown got reps at safety in the nickel package.

• While rookie safety Drew Mukuba worked with the second team at safety, he did get some first-team reps in the dime package.

• Tyler Steen has gotten all the first-ream reps at right guard this summer but we’ll see what alignment the Eagles use on Tuesday if Dickerson is not on the field.

3. The Summer of Quinyon continues. Eagles second-year cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has been one of the team’s best players this summer and he made more plays in front of the crowd at the Linc on Sunday. While A.J. Brown isn’t back in team drills yet, Mitchell was able break up two passes from Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith. The first was on the left sideline and Mitchell was super sticky in coverage; just in Smith’s hip pocket. The second was a comeback route and Mitchell timed it perfectly to climb Smith’s back and break up the pass so he didn’t get called for DPI.

4. DeVonta Smith was able to beat Cooper DeJean in coverage down the right sideline and Jalen Hurts hit him with an absolutely perfectly placed ball before the safety help from Sydney Brown arrived. It was a 25-yard touchdown and the fans went nuts.

5. Vic Fangio dialed up some linebacker blitzes on Sunday night. The most impressive reps actually came against Saquon Barkley. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and later Jihaad Campbell were able to sidestep Barkley for “sacks.” Campbell’s came in a backed up period and the play continued with an interception from Nolan Smith.

We also saw another “sack” from Campbell earlier in practice and also one from Smael Mondon Jr. on blitzes. The Eagles have plenty of linebackers with that ability.

6. Jahan Dotson made a spectacular catch on a ball from Jalen Hurts on the right sideline. He was able to secure the catch, tap his left foot and drag his right in bounds. Dotson has been having a good summer and has been making plays. It’s clear that his time in the offense and with Hurts is paying dividends this training camp.

7. Sydney Brown had a perfectly timed pass breakup against Dallas Goedert in the tight red zone. Brown has been getting most of the first-team safety reps but it has been a quiet camp for him. This was a good play against a really good tight end.

8. The Eagles suddenly have too many linebackers. Rookie Lance Dixon has had a nice training camp but doesn’t have much of a shot to make the team. Dixon had a great TFL to bring down Keilan Robinson when the Eagles went live (tackle to the ground).

9. Moro Ojomo continues to have a great summer. He got in the backfield to combine with Nolan Smith on a sack and later batted a Jalen Hurts pass at the line of scrimmage in a backed up period. He has been living in the backfield.

10. Some odds and ends:

• Gabe Hall knifed into the backfield for a TFL. He’s had a great summer and is pushing for a roster spot.

• Kelee Ringo had a pass breakup against Darius Cooper. It looked close to DPI but it wasn’t called.

• Grant Calcaterra made a strong contested catch against Reed Blankenship in coverage.

• Will Shipley caught a couple of passes in the flat for big gains.

• E.J. Jenkins couldn’t haul in a ball up the seam from Tanner McKee. Jenkins had an incredible training camp last year but has had a quieter summer in 2025.

Stupid Observation of the Day: This kid rocks.
