The Indianapolis Colts entered training camp planning on a quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, both of whom could very well be competing for their last opportunity to be starters in the league.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen’s plan was for Richardson to start the first game of the preseason, but it was thrown into flux after Richardson had to leave the first preseason game, limiting his reps.

Steichen acknowledged that he would have to change his plan for the quarterback competition moving forward. Now, he’s made his final decision on how to proceed.

“Steichen: Daniel Jones to start 2nd preseason game and play a couple of series; Anthony Richardson to play rest of 1st half,” reported Underdog NFL on Twitter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“After this week I have Daniel Jones a full point ahead of Anthony Richardson in my QB ratings so he would be my starter Week 1,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“So again AR with the second unit,” another fan added.

“Can we get rid of this guy?” one guy said of Steichen.

It’ll be interesting to see which of the quarterbacks goes on to win the starting job and what it means for the other guy.
