Following every NFL game in 2025, Steel City Underground parses the best plays from the Pittsburgh Steelers to highlight for Steelers Nation fans to rewatch, complete with what led up to the big play.
The Pittsburgh Steelers saw their first NFL preseason play of 2025 on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In this must-see replay, we review what we determined to be one play for the highlight reels.
Upon review
In the fourth quarter, Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson – who had taken over for Mason Rudolph – put together a drive that went for ten plays, 67 yards, and a touchdown pass to receiver Ke’Shawn Williams.
After Thompson leaned heavily on Nichols to move the ball down the field during the drive, the Steelers lined up on the Jacksonville 26 yard line on 2nd & 7 with 5:16 left in the fourth quarter. Thompson took the snap from shotgun and stood in the face of a heavy Jaguars pass rush right up the middle in his face. He threw the ball just before he was dropped to the turf. Meanwhile, Williams streaked to the end zone.
As the ball arrived, Williams went vertical, battling Eli Mostaert for the ball. Stripping it free, Williams came down with the ball and fell in the end zone only to get up and flex.
