Another Los Angeles Rams player looks closer to returning from injury this week.
Rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson was seen “running some routes on air,” per the LA Daily News/OC Register’s Adam Grosbard. This is the first significant update on the Rams’ second-round pick since he missed practice with a groin injury on Aug. 2.

Ferguson didn’t play in the Rams’ first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, and it’s unclear if he’ll play this week against the Los Angeles Chargers or the following week against the Cleveland Browns. The Rams should want their rookie offensive weapon to see some live football ahead of the 2025 season, but they’re smart to be cautious with his groin injury.
If he can’t get meaningful preseason snaps, Ferguson may find himself down the depth chart a bit to open the season. Tyler Higbee should remain the starter for Week 1 and the foreseeable future, but Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen are in contention for the TE2 spot unless Ferguson stakes a claim in practice.
Getting back to practice is huge for Ferguson and a good sign that the team is ready to ramp up his recovery. We’ll see how he looks the rest of the week and training camp.
