CHICAGO (KFOX 14/CBS4) — Deion Hankins, a former standout at Parkland High School and UTEP, took a significant step toward his NFL dreams with the Chicago Bears.
In his first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, Hankins made a memorable impact.
In the third quarter, veteran quarterback Case Keenum connected with Hankins in the end zone for a touchdown, marking a special moment for the El Paso native.
Alongside his touchdown reception, Hankins carried the ball seven times for 23 yards.
Hankins had an illustrious high school career, amassing a city-best 7,491 rushing yards and 78 touchdowns at Parkland High (according to UTEP Athletics).
During his five years at UTEP, he was a two-time second-team All-Conference USA selection before concluding his college career at Texas State.
Hankins will have another opportunity to impress the Bears’ front office next Sunday when they face the Buffalo Bills in their second preseason game.
