The Houston Texans have built a lot of hype heading into the 2025 NFL season, mostly because of the new play-caller in Nick Caley. Despite the overall status of the offensive line, Houston has built a solid roster of players on both sides of the ball and extended the right players around the Pro Bowl passer to remain a threat in the AFC.
But can the back-to-back AFC South champions make it to the Super Bowl? These decisions will pay off in the eyes of CBS Sports NFL analyst and former cornerback Bryant McFadden. He picked the Texans to beat the Denver Broncos at home in the wild-card round, but once again as the No. 4 seed, they’d be forced to take on the top-seed Buffalo Bills on the road.
In Round 2, Josh Allen and the Bills once again stop Houston from reaching the AFC title game for the first time in franchise history. The somewhat good news? At least the Texans can say they played and lost to the Super Bowl champions, who claimed their first Lombardi Trophy over the Los Angeles Rams.
The Texans are certainly one of the teams that can compete for a Super Bowl, but it’s tough to have this much confidence in the offensive line; faith in a top 10 defense should be the backbone of the roster through 17 games. While there are questions surrounding Tay Ersery and Cam Robinson at tackle, it’s still a bit of an unknown for how the Texans will fare keeping their quarterback upright this fall.
