LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Bengals are back at practice preparing for the new season.

It’s also the start of a new era as Zane Hobart enters his first year as head coach.

The Bengals recognize significant potential for growth after last season. They finished with a 5-5 record.

The coaching staff has changed this season. Coach Hobart understands the opener is approaching quickly.

“What we are trying to get accomplished in three weeks, we have to do in two this year with zero week. We’re just trying to get the kids on the same page and trying to get them together for week one,” Hobart said.

However, he believes team chemistry is crucial.

“I think the camaraderie with the kids, I just look forward to the opportunity, and I just look at the opportunity to build relationships with these kids and just keep building,” Hobart said.

The Bengals will start the season off on the road down in Nampa.

Coach Hobart knows all the guys need to be ready for week one.

“Just prepare for what you see on film as well as get our guys on the same page for week one, which is always tough, but that’s the goal we all have to be on the same page,” Hobart said.

Head coach Hobart has a message for Bengal fans ready for the year.

“You know we are excited, we need all you guys out here to support the kids, and I think we have a great group of guys that will work their tails off this year,” Hobart said.

Bengal’s will be opening the season on Friday, August 22nd, at 7 pm on the road.

Lewiston High School will be traveling down to Nampa to take on the Columbia Wildcats.
