The Jacksonville Jaguars have released their second unofficial depth chart ahead of the team’s Week 2 preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
With any unofficial depth chart, especially during this time of the year, we need to take it with a grain of salt. So, although the Jaguars have their own depth chart that they just released, I’m going to put together my own for the defense based on preseason play and what we’ve heard from training camp practices.

To take a look at the offense’s projected depth chart, you can find that here.
Jaguars‘ defensive tackles
Neither Armstead nor Smith have yet to practice, but will, of course, be key contributors this season. The team signed Austin Johnson recently to bolster the depth, and the veteran defensive tackle has been able to make some noise quickly.
Jaguars’ defensive ends
Smoot gets the third spot on the depth chart as he continues to make plays and get after the quarterback as of late. However, both him and Ogbah will have rotational roles this season. Linebackers Dennis Gardeck and Jalen McLeod can rush off the edge as well.

Jaguars’ linebackers
This is an extremely crowded room. In the Jaguars’ new 4-3 base defense, I have Lloyd, Oluokun, and Gardeck as the starters. Behind them are Miller and Abdullah, while I also have Kiser over Muma at the moment. I just think Kiser has made more splash plays, while both can help on special teams.
Jaguars’ cornerbacks
Jones gets the third spot, given that he’s on defense every day, but Hunter is very much in the mix for that playing time opposite of Campbell, and I would guess we see him on the field during those obvious passing situations. Brown was seeing a lot of first-team reps, but has been sidelined with an injury. For that potential final spot on the 53-man roster, Braswell has the advantage over Prince. During Monday’s practice, with Campbell out, it was Braswell who got the first-team reps.

Jaguars’ safeties
Based on playing time with the ones, it would appear that Wingard has the upper hand over Johnson and Savage when it comes to that starting spot next to Murray–although a competition between the three is still very much taking place. I have Johnson as the third safety because, from the sounds of it, he’s made more plays than Savage.
