The Indianapolis Colts are in the middle of a quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. What’s interesting about the competition is that both players could be competing for what is their last opportunity to be a starter in the league
Jones was brought in as a more consistent option than Richardson, who has struggled with protecting the ball throughout his young career, although Jones lacks some of Richardson’s big-play ability.
Knowing these things about the two gunslingers makes the development on Thursday all the more shocking.
“Colts ended the day with a 2-minute drill. Anthony Richardson took the starters down the field, scored a TD and then converted the two-point try. Daniel Jones threw a pick to end his drive with the second-stringers,” reported The Athletic’s James Boyd.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Would be poetic for camp to end on that note and ar wins the job. Saturday is big,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“AR is QB1… Jones will get plenty of playing time when Richardson inevitably gets injured and leaves mid game… That’s my take,” someone else added.
“Only matters to me when they do it games where the other team is actually hitting the QBs,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Jones still has enough time to bounce back and win the job.
