This morning’s sweltering joint practice between the Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans really didn’t need any extra heat. But it got some anyway, courtesy of safety Tre’von Moehrig.
Towards the end of Thursday’s session, Moehrig drilled Texans wideout Xavier Hutchinson on a completion over the middle of the field. The booming shot wasn’t received too kindly by Hutchinson’s teammates, and nearly ignited a scuffle.

Moehrig talked about his physicality with reporters after the workout, and said he’ll deal with whatever happens as a result of it.
“For me, it’s really just going 100 percent,” stated Moehrig, who signed with the Panthers on a three-year, $51 million deal this past spring. “I mean, I’m not really trying to think, ‘Pull back.’ I’m just trying to play ball.”
Luckily, the tempers subsided and Hutchinson was okay.
