San Francisco defeated Las Vegas, 22-19, Saturday in NFL preseason Week 2 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Former Vol defensive back Terry McDaniel lit the Al Davis Memorial Torch before the game. The torch is traditionally lit before each home game and began on Oct. 18, 2011.
The Al Davis Memorial Torch is a tribute to Davis’ legacy as the Raiders‘ owner, Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, AFL coach of the year, AFL commissioner and an architect of the Raiders’ Commitment to Excellence.
McDaniel played for the Raiders from 1988-97. He appeared in 143 games, including 137 starts. He was a five-time Pro Bowl (1992-96) selection, a First-Team All-Pro in 1993 and a three-time Second-Team All-Pro (1992, 1994-95).
McDaniel was a first-round selection by the Raiders (No. 9 overall) in the 1988 NFL draft. He totaled 502 tackles, 35 interceptions and eight touchdowns.
McDaniel played for the Vols from 1984-88 after redshirting during the 1983 season. He began his collegiate career as a wide receiver before playing defensive back. McDaniel also competed for Tennessee’s track and field team. He earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 1987.
