With their starting fullback and hybrid fullback both sidelined with injuries, the Denver Broncos brought in three free agents for tryouts over the weekend, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

The Broncos hosted Adam Prentice, Khari Blasingame and Troy Hairston. Prentice won the tryout and was signed on Sunday evening. Denver had room for Prentice on the roster after placing offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo (knee) on injured reserve.

Prentice (6-0, 245 pounds) started his career with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina (and Colorado State before that) in 2021. After being cut by Denver, Prentice spent the last four years with the New Orleans Saints. He’s now back with the Broncos following injuries to Michael Burton (hamstring) and Nate Adkins (ankle).

Blasingame (6-0, 233 pounds) has spent time with four NFL teams, winning Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Hairston (5-11, 245 pounds) spent the first three years of his career with the Houston Texans before a stint with the Cleveland Browns this offseason.

Depending on the health of Burton, Prentice will have a chance to serve as Denver’s early-season fullback.
