The Philadelphia Eagles made a wide receiver trade on Sunday afternoon – and fans are not happy.
The Eagles, who topped the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl 59, have made a notable addition to their wide receiver room. Philadelphia made a trade with the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon, acquiring a former second round NFL Draft pick. The Eagles are loading up at wide receiver.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles have acquired former Alabama Crimson Tide star John Metchie, who missed his rookie season due to a cancer diagnosis, but showed major speed and promise in 2023 and ’24.

The Eagles and the Texans agreed to the wide receiver trade on Sunday afternoon, shortly after 3:15 p.m. E.T.
“Trade: the Houston Texans are sending WR John Metchie to the Philadelphia Eagles, per sources,” Schefter reported.

He added: “Eagles WR room now includes: 🏈AJ Brown 🏈DeVonta Smith 🏈Jahan Dotson 🏈John Metchie III 🏈Johnny Wilson.”
NFL fans are complaining about the trade
Many NFL fans have taken to social media to suggest that it’s unfair that the Eagles are acquiring another speedy player to add to their wide receivers room.
ESPN “NFL Live” host Laura Rutledge had a two-word reaction.
“Goodness gracious!!!” she wrote.
Many NFL fans felt similarly.

“Howie Roseman has the rest of the NFL shook,” one fan wrote.
“Howie Roseman is the grim reaper bro,” another fan added.
“The Eagles roster is so good that Howie Roseman is making trades for competition at WR4,” another fan added.
“Underrated trait of Howie Roseman: His sense of emergency every season regardless of the outcome the season before… if something doesn’t look right he makes a move,” one fan added.
The Eagles beat out another team for Metchie
The Eagles had competition for the Houston Texans trade on Sunday. According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles topped the offer made by the San Francisco 49ers.

The Eagles and the 49ers have two of the best front offices in the league.
Philadelphia reportedly made a “better offer.”
The Eagles don’t hesitate to make moves, that’s for sure.
