The Tennessee Titans squared off against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday night in Week 2 of the preseason.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan said earlier in the week that he’d take a similar approach with the allocation of snaps, meaning starters, including rookie quarterback Cam Ward, would play…and they did.
After a four-quarter back-and-forth battle, the Titans came out ahead, evening their preseason record, 1-1.

A back-and-forth battle continued into the fourth quarter with the Titans taking a 23-20 lead over the Falcons on a 23-yard Joey Slye field goal with 9:03 remaining. That came after a 12-play, 55-yard drive stalled on a third-and-3 stop.
Four plays, 65 yards, and 2:01. That’s all it took for the Falcons to once again respond, tying the game at 20-20 with a 52-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Easton Stick to wide receiver Chris Blair.
After an ugly start to the second half, in which they surrendered 10 quick points, the Titans burned an impressive 8:14 off the clock with a 13-play, 87-yard drive capped off with a Jemar Jefferson 16-yard touchdown run.
Titans 20, Falcons 13
After Carter’s touchdown, the Falcons recovered a fumble on the kickoff (TJ Sheffield) and promptly connected on a field goal, tying the game, 13-13.
The Titans’ defense forced a three-and-out, but the drive started deep in Tennessee territory.
After forcing the Titans into a three-and-out to open the third quarter, the Falcons drove 60 yards in just five plays, eating up 57 seconds. The drive culminated with a 43-yard touchdown courtesy of running back Nathan Carter.
The Titans still lead, 13-10.
Titans 13, Falcons 3
With under :40 remaining in the first half, Titans quarterback Brandon Allen connected with rookie tight end Gunnar Helm on a 25-yard touchdown pass to give Tennessee a 13-3 lead.
Both the throw and the catch were impressive, and Helm continues to put his stamp on a roster spot.
With 2:30 remaining in an otherwise quiet second quarter, Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo connected on a 42-yard field goal to put the Falcons on the board,
The Titans lead, 6-3.
The Titans made a controversial splash in free agency by signing offensive lineman Dan Moore Jr. to a big-money deal. On Friday, with seconds remaining in the first quarter, he limped off the field after being rolled up on.

Moore immediately returned to start the second quarter, leading to a major exhale.
Titans cornerback Kendell Brooks to the house on a second-and-11 interception.
The Titans missed the extra point, going up over the Falcons, 6-0.
Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward delivered a dime to wide receiver Van Jefferson on second-and-13, arguably the best ball of his young career, and it was dropped.
The Titans called a blitz on second-and-8, and linebacker Cedric Gray got home. Tennessee eventually forced the punt.
The Falcons have won the coin toss and have opted to receive. The Titans’ defense will take the field first, and the offense will open the second half.
Veteran offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler is among those who will sit out on Friday night.
