The Minnesota Vikings got Christian Darrisaw at a massive discount in the 2021 NFL Draft. Not only did they land him, but they were able to trade down from pick 14 to 23 to get him. If the draft were done again, not only would they not land him at 23, but they wouldn’t be in a position to draft him at all.

PFF looked back at the 2021 draft and re-drafted players using the data that we have now. Darrisaw lands 15 spots higher in the re-draft, going 8th overall to the Carolina Panthers.

Like [Rashawn] Slater, Darrisaw has dealt with injuries, which makes his placement on this list a challenge. He missed time as a rookie in 2021 and sat out for half of 2024 after suffering a torn ACL and MCL. When healthy, he’s dominant. He has earned single-season PFF overall grades of 90.4, 82.4 and 81.4 in the past three seasons.

For what it’s worth, the Vikings didn’t do much with the additional picks, as they used the 66th overall pick on quarterback Kellen Mond and the 86th pick on guard Wyatt Davis.

But not landing Darrisaw would sting, as he’s proven to be one of the league’s best tackles when healthy. Fortunately, this is one of those re-drafts where you come away happy with how the Vikings handled the real draft.
