It was a down year across the board for the San Francisco 49ers in 2024, meaning that Nick Bosa and the rest of the faithful will have to reassert themselves in the NFC in order to regain confidence from outsiders.
The NFL is releasing its top-100 player rankings for the 2025 season, and the star defensive end has fallen from his top-30 ranking that was revealed just over one year ago.
Bosa, who was ranked as the 30th-best player in the league during last year’s rankings, comes in at number 57 in this year’s edition of the NFL Top-100.
Although Bosa was one of the few star 49ers to remain healthy for the 2024 season, his 9.0 sacks were his fewest in a single season since his rookie campaign (min. two games played).
With San Francisco setting its sights on a better showing in 2025, Bosa will look to regain his Defensive Player of the Year form that has brought him countless accolades over the years.

2024 stats:Â 14 games | 52 tackles | 15 tfl | 9 sacks | 1 INT | 2 FF | 1 FR
It was a bit of a down year by the usual standards of Nick Bosa, who has a Defensive Player of the Year honor under his belt. And yet Bosa’s 2024 campaign still ranked him among the top players at his position and earned him a fourth straight Pro Bowl nod and his fifth in six seasons.
Nick Bosa’s 91.0 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus, landed him sixth among defensive ends and his run defense and pass rush grades were also both top 10. Even with the 49ers’ overall struggles with injuries and productivity, including Bosa’s three missed games, the DE continued to lead his team and maintained his status as one of the best defensive ends in the league year after year.
NFL Pro Insight for Bosa: Nick Bosa recorded an average get-off time of 0.70 seconds last season, the quickest in his career and the second-quickest among edge defenders with at least 200 pass rushes.

More San Francisco 49ers players included in the NFL Top 100
Following an injury-riddled 2024 season, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has a lot to prove in 2025.
The NFL is releasing its top-100 player rankings for the 2025 season, and the star running back has fallen far from his top-three ranking that was revealed just over one year ago.
McCaffrey has been ranked 73rd in this year’s rankings, a 70-player drop from last year due to logging just four games during the 2024 season.
The 29-year-old missed the first eight nine of last season due to Achilles injuries, then was ruled out for the remainder of the year following a December 1st matchup in Buffalo after suffering a PCL injury in his right knee.
