One of the big questions heading into the 2025 NFL season was if the Los Angeles Rams had enough offensive line depth to account for any major injuries.

The team’s two starting tackles are dealing with offseason ailments: Alaric Jackson has blood clots and Rob Havenstein underwent offseason shoulder surgery. The rest of the line looks sound, but it was unclear how good the backups were. That’s partly why the Rams also signed veteran journeymen D.J. Humphries and David Quessenberry.

Through two preseason games, though, the Rams’ backups look great at keeping quarterback Stetson Bennett upright. L.A. hasn’t played any starting offensive linemen and the Rams still rank No. 1 in Pro Football Focus’ pass blocking grade with 81.7 this preseason. The Minnesota Vikings trail them at 76.0.

Firstly, there’s undrafted interior lineman Willie Lampkin Jr., who keeps drawing praise from analysts. His path to the 53-man roster is tough given he’s behind Coleman Shelton and Beaux Limmer at center, but Lampkin proved he can play at a high level despite his smaller frame.

Lampkin isn’t the only backup to excel, though. Two Rams guards ranked among the five linemen with at least 87 blocking snaps who haven’t allowed a pressure this preseason, per PFF: Wyatt Bowles and Justin Dedich. Bowles is an undrafted player out of Utah State, while Dedich went undrafted out of USC in 2024 and started three games — all of which were wins.

Additionally, four Rams linemen rank in the top 10 for PFF’s pass blocking grades:

T Ben Chukwuma, Buccaneers: 81.1

G Joe Huber, Vikings: 79.6

G Elijah Klein, Buccaneers: 78.6

T KT Leveston, Rams: 78.4

G Jordan McFadden, Bears: 78.4

G Drew Kendall, Eagles: 78.0

G Justin Dedich, Rams: 77.9

G Luke Newman, Bears: 73.9

G Wyatt Bowles, Rams: 73.4

Leveston and Arcuri are both former seventh-round picks for the Rams: Leveston in 2024 and Arcuri in 2022. Arcuri played 51 offensive snaps in Week 1 of the 2024 season. Leveston has never seen regular-season action.

This is a great sign the Rams might be OK with their depth heading into the season. Yes, these players are going up against second- and third-string players in exhibition preseason games, but their ability to play at a high level is a good indicator they understand the fundamentals of pass-blocking if they needed to be called upon in the regular season.

The Rams hope it never comes to this, but Sean McVay has to be happy with the depth he has at offensive line.
