The Tennessee Titans welcomed cornerback L’Jarius Sneed back onto the practice field in a limited capacity on Wednesday after activating him from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list earlier in the day.

This marked the first time since injuring his quad early in the 2024 season that Sneed has been on the field with his teammates, taking part in preparations for the upcoming season. While his return is a boost for the secondary, it is unlikely that the veteran cornerback will take any meaningful team reps until the start of the regular season.

After practice, Sneed spoke to reporters and explained why it took so long for him to return to the field after he declared he was healthy at a football camp just weeks before the start of camp.

“It wasn’t my decision. It was coach Callahan,” Sneed said, “He’s taking it slow with me. They’re all taking it slow to make sure I’m good for the season.”

Whether or not that is truly the case is unknown, although ensuring Sneed is healthy for the entirety of the season would seem to be a priority for Callahan and the organization. At one time, when healthy, Sneed was a dynamic playmaker. If he can recapture that level of play in the Titans’ secondary, the entire defense will benefit.

Now that Sneed has returned and he is “very confident” that he will be ready for the opener, it will be interesting to see how this impacts roster construction over the next few weeks.
