The next stop on the WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour in 2025 was to see the Wind River Cougars. They slipped into the Class 1A 9-man playoffs last year and extended their streak to four straight years in the postseason. Wind River was just 2-7 in 2024. Both victories were in conference play, where the Cougars were 2-3 and placed fourth in the league standings. They lost in the first round of the playoffs at Lingle-Ft. Laramie. Even with the loss of some key personnel, Wind River will be a more veteran team this fall.
WYOPREPS PREVIEWS THE 2025 WIND RIVER COUGARS
The Cougars return seven starters from last year. Led by Isaiah Remacle, Logan Jensen, Troy Tidzump, and Jeffrey Rushing, Wind River has a solid foundation in place to make some noise this fall. Wind River is a run-based squad. Last year, they averaged 200 rushing yards per game, which was No. 5 in the class. They struggled in other areas and averaged only 219 yards and 12 points per game. The Cougars also want to be stingier on defense. They gave up close to 380 yards and 45 points per game. Remacle made 31 tackles and finished with 58 defensive points, an average of 8.3 per game. Jensen added 22 tackles and 5.71 defensive points per game.

WyoPreps caught up with Remacle and Jensen to preview the Wind River season. They discussed how the start of practice has gone, some keys for this year’s team, what the coaches have them focusing on early in practice, what they see around 9-man, and more.
Head Coach Rod Frederick is in his fourth season. He’s had the Cougars in the playoffs each year, which included a runner-up finish back in 2023. What does he see for this year? Coach Frederick is optimistic with his group, loves the experience he has up front, described how practice has gone, how he wants to execute the fundamentals, looks at the 1A 9-man classification, and more.
Wind River’s season debut will be at Lingle-Ft. Laramie on Friday, Sept. 6.
