How will the starters look in the game?
Stefanski has called the final preseason game and the week leading up to it a dress rehearsal for the first regular season game. With the starters set to play about 20-25 plays, Stefanski is making sure that the players will be used to the routine when the week of the regular season opener comes around.
“There will be some guys that get out of there a little bit sooner than others, but it’s really individualized playing for each guy, but you will see the starters out there,” Stefanski said.
The Browns have prepped for the Rams throughout the week, getting a game plan at the beginning of the week. In practice, the Browns have had more competitive periods than usual and simulated the Rams offense and defense with carded periods.
For some veterans, including newly minted starting QB Joe Flacco, this will be their first taste of preseason action. Although veterans like Flacco or DE Myles Garrett have not played, they have been given reps against other teams through joint practices.
“I’m definitely ready to play. (If) my number’s called, I’m definitely suited up and ready to go,” Garrett said on Aug. 20.
