Brady Cook is set to play an extremely important game. On Friday night, against the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Jets’ undrafted free agent quarterback has a chance to make a real mark among NFL circles.

Justin Fields is the undoubted starter, and Tyrod Taylor is secure as the backup, but will the veteran QB2 be healthy enough to start the season? Either way, Taylor’s current injury shines a bright spotlight on two youngsters: Adrian Martinez and the man of the moment.

If I were calling the shots, Brady Cook makes my 53-man roster. Period. End of sentence.

While he’s nowhere near ready to take a snap at this level in the regular season, his eye-popping improvement this summer has many onlookers turning heads. Seriously, Cook looked so bad at OTAs that I thought he had snuck onto the field as a fantasy-driven fan.

Yet, many of Cook’s traits began to show face in late July, and some of these look extremely impressive for a UDFA quarterback who entered the building as a mere afterthought.
