The Washington Commanders are must-see TV. At least, that’s what Ben Solak of ESPN.com believes.
Solak recently ranked all 32 NFL teams in terms of watchability in 2025. He ranked the Commanders No. 1. Before we delve into why Solak thinks Washington is the NFL’s most watchable team in 2025, here’s his criteria:
Big playsClose gamesStar playersCool stuff
OK, so what is “cool stuff?” That would be “cool schemes.” Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is one of the NFL’s more creative offensive minds, and having a quarterback like Jayden Daniels makes it even more fun.
Solak on why he picked the Commanders No. 1:
The Commanders were the perfect team to watch last season. Twelve of their games ended within an eight-point margin, more than all but three other teams. In the fourth quarter, they had 19 scoring drives (fourth most) and surrendered 20 scoring drives (sixth most). A big part of that is that they played fast under Kliff Kingsbury, with the most no-huddle plays of any team since the Chip Kelly Eagles. Having more plays equals more opportunity for excitement.
What else? Jayden Daniels was sick. The Commanders completed multiple Hail Marys, one of which won them a legendary game that broke the Bears franchise. Daniels was electric. The Commanders had the best fourth-down conversion rate in history for a team that attempted more than 10 fourth-down conversions (87%). Daniels was magical.
But I also just enjoyed rooting for them. It has been a tough couple of decades for Washington fans, and the team got a huge likability boost in the Adam Peters-Dan Quinn-Jayden Daniels era. I wanted to see them succeed.
The Commanders are fun to watch. There’s no way things play out the way they did last season. You can bet Washington hopes that fewer games come down to the wire this season. Part of what makes them fun is Daniels. Well, a big part of what makes them fun is Daniels.
Head coach Dan Quinn makes them fun, too. You won’t see a lot of punter Tress Way (sorry, Tress). Quinn loves going for it on fourth down, mainly because he believes in his quarterback and offensive coordinator. That part is not going to change. Quinn is an aggressive coach, and he trusts those around him.
Washington has other fun players, too, such as Terry McLaurin, Zach Ertz, Bobby Wagner, Von Miller, Deebo Samuel, Austin Ekeler and a seventh-round rookie, running back Bill Croskey-Merritt.
Here’s the rest of Solak’s top 10:
