Michael Penix Jr. will probably have to get used to being called out of his name now that he’s going to start for the Atlanta Falcons.
The quarterback revealed having learned the good news while he was with his girlfriend at Costco but has watched Easton Stick play under center in preseason to the tune of a 0-3 record.
Penix was leaving the field after Atlanta lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night, when a fan called him “Michael Pe**s,” prompting a brief confrontation.

The video below, which has gone viral on Twitter/X, shows the quarterback walking up to the fan, who isn’t seen on camera, and telling him to watch his mouth.
He then asks, “What did you call me?”
To his credit, the fan repeats… “Michael Pe**s,” before the Falcons signal-caller corrects him.

“presses him and does nothing, suits his name,” a fan claimed.
“You can tell that one haunted him his whole life haha,” someone else laughed.

The mispronunciation or misspelling of Penix’s name isn’t limited to fans, as a local news broadcaster made the same error in their on-screen graphic just over a week ago.
Doesn’t seem like a battle Penix can win.
