While the Seahawks weren’t able to translate a productive week into a positive result on Saturday, falling behind early thanks in part to three first-half turnovers, Macdonald appreciated the effort he saw from his team in a game where starters got the day off.

“I thought the guys played hard today,” Macdonald said. “There’s a lot of good, and there’s a lot we’re going to learn from. There’s operation stuff, there’s penalties, making quick decisions, being decisive, playing our style of ball, that we’ll learn from these things. But I thought the guys played really hard and they put a heck of a training camp together, so they should be proud of themselves.”

Asked again about the week, Macdonald said, “We didn’t win the game. Look, we got the whole practice in. I know we had the scuffles there, so to be able to come back and get the whole practice in was really important. It was a longer joint practice than you normally have. Normally these things are a little bit quicker; we ended up with a ton of plays, so it was just great all around– evaluating. Understanding where we can step on the gas systemically, kind of declares who can do what and who we are going to be. So a lot of positives. We spent time with them. We had a team dinner. Just anytime you get a chance to get away—it was time for us to get out of Seattle, so it was a great opportunity for us.”
