Pittsburgh Steelers 53-man roster cuts tracker: Every confirmed, rumored move originally appeared on The Sporting News

With the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ 2025 preseason in the books following a 19-10 win against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night, it’s time for the team to trim its roster down to 53 players.

The deadline for teams to reach that limit falls on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. ET. After that, the Steelers will almost certainly be scouring the waiver wire and free agency for players who can help fill some of their remaining needs.

For players with four or more years of NFL service, they are free to sign with any team immediately after getting cut. However, players with less service time (three years or less) in the NFL are first subject to waivers. Claims will be processed on Aug. 27 at noon ET.

For players who land on injured reserve or remain on the PUP list on cutdown day, they will be forced to miss at least the first four games of the 2025 campaign.

The Steelers didn’t wait long to begin trimming their roster down, with Pittsburgh cutting 11 players on Friday, the day after their preseason finale.
