In the Jacksonville Jaguars’ preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins, which players received the highest grades from Pro Football Focus, and which received the lowest grades?

This was a game where we didn’t see the Jaguars’ starters, and we didn’t see many of the backups either. Instead, it was one last opportunity for many to make a final roster or practice squad push.

Now, before we dive into all that, I do want to mention that while PFF’s grading system is certainly helpful at quantifying a player’s performance, it is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to evaluations. It is one tool out of many that are out there and should be treated as such.

For some context around these grades, below is the grading scale.

Jacksonville Jaguars‘ five highest graded players vs. Dolphins

OL Sal Wormley (84.9): Wormley played 55 total snaps, including 34 in pass protection, and didn’t allow a single pressure. He had a good run-blocking grade of 78.9 as well.

TE Patrick Herbert (83.8): Herbert caught 2-of-3 passes for 11 yards, but really boosting his grade was his run-blocking grade of 78.3.

TE John Copenhaver (76.4): Copenhaver caught one pass for six yards, but like Herbert, was very good in the run game with a blocking grade of 88.6.

LB Yasir Abduallah (74.6): In 17 snaps, Abduallah did a bit of everything. He had a sack, two stops in the run game, and in coverage, he allowed one reception for just eight yards.

CB Aydan White (72.6): White was all over the field, making seven total tackles. In coverage, he allowed two receptions on three targets but limited the pass catchers to just 17 yards.

Jaguars’ three lowest graded players vs. Dolphins

LB Branson Combs (29.1): Combs allowed two receptions on two targets for 29 yards. He had one tackle and two assists, but received a run defense grade of 28.0.

DT James Carpenter (30.6): Carpenter played only 12 total snaps, but didn’t log a pressure or a tackle. He had a run defense grade of 36.7.

DT Keivie Rose (37.7): Rose played 35 snaps and recorded a sack, two tackles, and three run stops. However, like Combs and Carpenter, PFF didn’t like what they saw in the run game, giving him a grade of 34.7.
