ESPN predicted that former Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron will be among the New York Jets’ final roster cuts.

Baron, who spent the first four seasons of his college career at Tennessee before transferring to Miami for his final season of eligibility, was selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Rookie Tyler Baron and veteran Derrick Nnadi are on shaky ground,” wrote ESPN’s Rich Cimini while explaining his 53-man roster prediction for the Jets.

Baron was a productive player for the Vols, totaling 101 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks during his four seasons in Knoxville.

Last season at Miami, Baron totaled 38 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks.

Baron had a relatively quiet training camp for the Jets. It’s possible that New York will try to sneak Baron onto the practice squad. If the Jets don’t feel confident they can sneak Baron onto their practice squad, they may include him on the 53-man roster just so they can have more time to evaluate the former Vol.
