The Washington Huskies have developed plenty of high-caliber NFL prospects over the last few seasons and the 2024 NFL playoffs are the best example, since at least one Washington alum can be found on 12 of the 14 teams in the postseason.

Ten of those Huskies are starters for their team, with 20 gracing active rosters, 21 when counting Jeremiah Hunter, a member of the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. We compiled a guide for all the Huskies in the postseason as the 14 teams left standing all vie for their chance to reach the Super Bowl.

NFC #1 Seed – Detroit Lions

Defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike and linebacker Ezekiel Turner are both starters on the defense for the NFC North champion Lions and have had a solid season under head coach Dan Campbell. Onwuzurike tallied 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks during the regular season while Turner, a longtime Arizona Cardinals special teamer, started the season on the Houston Texans practice squad.

He was released on October 1 which took him back in Seattle after he signed with the Seahawks practice squad for a few weeks. The Lions picked him up and after he was called up from the practice squad, Detroit signed him to the 53-man roster. Initially, he was primarily on special teams duty, but moved into a starting role after linebacker Derrick Barnes suffered a season-ending injury.

The former Huskies will have Wild Card Weekend off with Detroit sitting in the top spot in the NFC.

NFC #3 Seed – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With six Washington alumni on the roster, they could easily be called the Tampa Bay Huskies. The veteran of the group is defensive tackle Vita Via, a first-round pick in the 2018 draft, who tallied a career-high 7 sacks on his way to his second Pro Bowl nomination. Tight end Cade Otton has also had a career season, tallying 59 receptions for 600 yards and 4 touchdowns despite missing the season’s final three games with a knee injury.

Wide receiver Jalen McMillan has been on a roll to end the regular season, hauling in 316 yards and 7 touchdowns in the last five weeks of the season. Outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, a first-round pick in the 2021 draft had a career-low of 24 tackles and 2.0 sacks after his fifth-year option was declined by the team, which will make him a free agent at the end of the year.

Defensive tackle Greg Gaines has spent the season backing up Bea and amassed 7 tackles and 1 sack on the year. Rookie tight end Devin Culp has gotten to showcase his skills with Otton on the sidelines and has made some impressive catches with the longest coming on a 26-yard shot. Tampa Bay will host the Washington Commanders in the Wild Card round.

NFC #5 Seed – Minnesota Vikings

The only Husky on Minnesota’s roster, cornerback Byron Murphy Jr., has been stellar in 2024 on his way to his first Pro Bowl seelction. The former second-round pick has hauled in a career-high 7 interceptions and held opposing receivers to receptions on just 65.5 percent of targets. Along with a career-best 14 pass breakups, Murphy has only allowed 4 touchdowns. Minnesota will hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

NFC #6 Seed – Washington Commanders

Linebacker Dominique Hampton had to wait until the season finale to make his NFL debut for the Commanders in what some have deemed as a redshirt year for the former safety turned linebacker. Head coach Dan Quinn has a long history of developing defenders and has given Hampton some extra time to adapt to the new position and get him ready for the future.

AFC #1 Seed – Kanas City Chiefs

Cornerback Trent McDuffie has already had an outstanding career in only his third year in the league. Despite being snubbed for the Pro Bowl this season, the first-round pick has already won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs and according to Pro Football Focus, is the top corner in the league with a lockdown rate of 66.7 percent. He grabbed his first two career interceptions this season and has set a new career-high with 13 pass breakups. McDuffie is joined in the secondary by his college running mate Keith Taylor, who is mainly a depth piece for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo, and has recorded 5 tackles this season.McDuffie and the Chiefs will wait another week to see who they will host at Arrowhead Stadium in the divisional round of the playoffs.

AFC #2 Seed – Buffalo Bills

Saftey Taylor Rapp suffered a head injury early in the season but has overcome it and excelled with back-to-back games with interceptions, grabbing one off Chiefs’ superstar Patrick Mahomes and another the next week against Indianapolis’ Joe Flacco. Rookie linebacker Edefuan Uloufoshio has seen action in four games this season, playing 64 snaps on defense and 60 on special teams.

The Bills will host the Denver Broncos to start their quest for a title.

AFC #3 Seed – Baltimore Ravens

Right tackle Roger Rosengarten has been arguably the biggest offensive lineman steal of the 2024 NFL draft. He earned the starting job early in the season and has done a stellar job of protecting Lamar Jackson in what has been a record-setting season for the two-time MVP. His run blocking has been essential for running back Derrick Henry’s strong first year in Baltimore, while his pass protection has greatly improved throughout the year against stiff competition like Khalil Mack, Myles Garrett, and TJ Watt. Rosengarten and the Ravens will host their divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in the opening round.

AFC #4 Seed – Houston Texans

Cornerback Myles Bryant found his way onto the Texans 53-man roster on November 28 after spending the last few seasons with the New England Patriots. His role has been primarily on special teams and as a depth piece in a very talented defensive backs room.

The Texans will host the Los Angeles Chargers at NRG Stadium.

AFC #5 Seed – Los Angeles Chargers

Tight end Will Dissly has flourished under coach Jim Harbaugh in Los Angeles after spending six seasons with the Seahawks. The highlight of his year came against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, when he hauled in 8 receptions for 81 yards. The Chargers also acquired defensive back Elijah Molden from the Tennessee Titans just before the start of the season and his skillset was exactly what defensive coordinator Jesse Minter was looking for to play nickel. Molden thrived with the Chargers, tallying 7 pass breakups, 2 fumble recoveries, and 75 tackles before a fractured leg ended his season in Week 17 against the New England Patriots.

AFC #6 Seed – Pittsburgh Steelers

First-round pick Troy Fautanu was ready to make his second career start at tackle when he had “a little tweak” to his knee in practice. However, it was much more than that, as Fautanu needed surgery to repair ligament damage to a dislocated kneecap and was placed on injured reserve. There is some optimism that the former Husky could return during the playoffs.

AFC #7 Seed – Denver Broncos

Center Luke Wattenburg had to battle to get his starting job during training camp and has developed strong chemistry with rookie quarterback Bo Nix. The pair has become better and more cohesive as the season has gone on as head coach Sean Payton and the Broncos have found their way back to the playoffs.
