The Raiders opted not to go the waiver wire route to fill their need at quarterback. They have opted to send a fifth round pick in next year’s draft to Cleveland for QB Kenny Pickett.
Pickett was a first round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has started 25 games over the past three seasons in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and was set to back up Joe Flacco in Cleveland. Now he heads to his third team in four NFL seasons.

The Raiders were in need of a QB to replace Aidan O’Connell who suffered a broken wrist in the team’s third preseason game. Afterward, head coach Pete Carroll said the team would be looking for an experienced quarterback to bring in to back up Geno Smith. They got their guy in Pickett.
Pickett has a 15-10 career record with 4765 yards, 15 TDs, and 14 INT and a 79.3 passer rating.
