Free-agent NFL quarterback Ben DiNucci likes to do things his own way. That much became apparent when DiNucci announced he was signing with the Atlanta Falcons from his social media account last week.
The former seventh-round pick was added to the roster ahead of the Falcons‘ preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys. DiNucci, who was selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft, entered Friday night’s game late in the fourth quarter.

He attempted just two passes against his former team, one of which was intercepted while the other was incomplete. The Falcons left Dallas with a 31-13 loss, and DiNucci was released the day after the game in the team’s first wave of roster cuts.
The 28-year-old quarterback took the news in stride while at the airport on Saturday afternoon, posting a picture of a beer with the following caption.
“Not many beers better than the airport ‘I just got cut from the NFL for the seventh time’ beer. “Trust me, you wouldn’t understand,” wrote DiNucci.
DiNucci wasn’t the only player released by Atlanta over the weekend. The team cut 11 players in its first wave of roster cuts ahead of Tuesday’s 53-man deadline. The Falcons currently have 77 players on their roster, including a few players who are likely to be placed on the injured reserve list.

Head coach Raheem Morris said right tackle Kaleb McGary (knee) will likely go on IR, and we can assume the same about backup Storm Norton (ankle). The Falcons have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to trim their roster down to 53 players.
