It’s been an interesting offseason for former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Taking the reins in Las Vegas with the Raiders, the Super Bowl-winning coach has added a slew of veteran players on their last legs, including former Seahawks safety Jamal Adams. On Monday, Carroll did it again by signing five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper.
Cooper joined Carroll’s Raiders on the same day their WR1 Jakobi Meyers requested a trade over a contract dispute. It’s difficult to see those two events as actually being linked, however. Cooper should have no bearing on the Raiders’ willingness to actually trade Meyers.

Carroll’s Raiders had an inexperienced group of wideouts prior to Cooper’s signing. Rookies Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. are expected to play sizable roles for former Seahawks QB Geno Smith this season, who was traded by Seattle to Vegas earlier this summer. Cooper will help.
Unfortunately, the Seahawks and Raiders won’t meet during the regular season in 2025. Carroll made his triumphant return to Lumen Field in a 23-23 preseason Week 1 tie with the Seahawks. Carroll is doing things his way in Vegas. Adding players like Smith, Cooper, Adams, Elandon Roberts, and Devin White proves that.
